Flowood, Mississippi is located within Rankin County. Only sixteen and a half square miles, Canton’s population is around 4,750. Flowood is home to many shopping attractions such as the Dogwood Festival Market, a United Artist Movie Theater, and also River Oaks Hospital. Although traditionally a dry county, residents voted to have Flowood zoned as a “resort” in order to serve alcohol in restaurants and hotel establishments.

Additionally from 2007-2010, the Southern Regional Education Board awarded Northwest Rankin High School the status of “Pacesetter School,” again the highest possible ranking.
